 Anguilla

We visited Anguilla again in December. We stayed at the Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Resort https://www.auroraanguilla.com/. We stayed there last year at the same time and had a great time. We had another great time this year.

The hotel is really 2 hotels - Rendevous Bay and Merrywing Bay. There is an 18 hole golf course and a 9 hole par 3 course. There is a new waterpark at Merrywing Bay that includes water slides, a river pool, tennis and pickleball courts,  a rock climbing wall, a teen center, a large swimming pool and a mini golf course. We stayed at Merrywing Bay which is the newer property where we had never stayed. There is a shuttle that takes you around the property. You basically go to the front desk and someone takes you wherever.

We always rent a car. We pick it up at the ferry terminal and return it to the ferry terminal. The hotel is about a 15 minute drive. The drive on the left side of the road with American cars. This can be tough but I have adjusted. You don't really need a car but I like to have one.

We flew to St Marten and then took a ferry(power boat) from a dock 50 yards from the airport. The ferry people meet you at the airport and take you in a van to the dock where there is a waiting room and customs. Everything works very smoothly. There are several ferry companies. We have used Calypso https://www.calypsochartersanguilla.com/ and they have been great. $75 each way.

The Aurora can be very expensive but they have good deals every year up to December 15. We really enjoyed the Merrywing hotel. We stayed in their 6 story high rise with an ocean view. Huge room with large bathroom and large closet changing area. The employees at the resort are very friendly and helpful. It just might appear that you are not getting true luxury for the prices that one pays in Anguilla. 

The resort has 5 restaurants that are all pretty good except Chef's Table which is up and down. Breakfast at Merrywing is very good and was included. If you don't get it included the price of breakfast is very high. Dinner prices at the restaurants are fair.

The beaches on Anguilla are awesome. Rendevous Bay is truly special.

Merrywing is right behind it. There are a few rocks in the water that one needs to be careful around. Beach chair and umbrellas are included and are great. We went a a quiet time so crowds were not an issue. High season might create some issues but there is plenty of room on the beaches
